Primary Palliative Care: Core Business of General Practice?

On Wednesday 5th March to Friday 8th March 2010, the School of Population Health hosted a symposium entitled "Strategic Directions in Palliative Care".
 
This Symposium focused on the provision of palliative care services examining current national and international trends in service delivery. The programme addressed leadership and planning and included discussion on expanded community-focused services, palliative care in aged care services, the role of the specialist service, palliative care in non-malignant diseases including dementia, linkage with primary health care, the palliative care workforce and developing leaders for the future. Barbara Monroe BA BPhil CQSW, CEO of St Christopher’s Hospice, London presented a major component of the programme supported by local clinicians and managers.
