It’s a bit late to do this, but later is better than never I guess. I have decided to change the topic of my HLTHINFO 728 assignment on e-cigarettes as although it is a disruptive innovation that can have impacts on health (of smokers mostly), Jim has pointed out that it is not in fact an informatics-based disruptive technology.
 
I was initially planning on doing my assignment on telemedicine in general, but I was having a chat with Rochelle the other day and she brought up the topic of Virtual Reality Simulated Surgery, which I thought was more interesting than telemedicine, so I thought I’d choose that as my topic instead. My name is Kevin and my chosen topic for my first assignment for HLTHINFO 728 will be about electronic cigarettes (or e-cigarettes) as a disruptive technology in health. I think it would be interesting to explore the impact of e-cigarettes on the current tobacco market. An e-cigarette is a battery-powered electronic device that allows its user to inhale a vaporised solution of nicotine.
